Riding the new Pulsar, is an interesting experience after having ridden the older model just before that. There are some important and interesting cosmetic changes which I’ll come to later. But right now, lets talk about the more important bits which will surely add to the riding experience a lot more.
The gearbox - silken smooth. Knife thru hot butter, call it what you will, but its the slickest gearbox I have seen. And after having ridden the earlier Pulsars you’d be forgiven for thinking Bajaj stole someone else’s gearbox! Shifts are very clean, precise. No judders, false neutrals.
Power delivery is very linear, although this author felt that Power wasnt coming with the hurry that one is used to on the older Pulsar - maybe it was just need for running-in on the test bike.
The engine has, I’m sorry to note, a very weak note(no pun intended). You can hardly hear it at times - which can be good sometimes, but wouldn’t you wanna hear your baby screaming as you rev it up? I sure would!
The suspension seemed better. The bike’s slightly heavier - about 4 kilos or so which might have helped matters just a wee bit.
Looks. The new fairing looks all the more aggressive. The tail-light is very unique, but looks kinda wimpy, and if my experience is any guide, one cant really see it, if one’s in a taller vehicle. The illumination of the tail lamps is lovely.
The digital speedo looks great with orange backlight, but unfortunately the idiots that they are, folks at Khivraj have disconnected the speedo cable - but NOT the rev-counter cable. So one could see the revs going up, but nothing on the very good-looking dash!
On the whole, a better bike indeed, although one hopes the note of the older(2005) model can either be retained or re-introduced on this model!

Bajaj pulsar DTSi 150 CC sucks..
I have bought this bike around 1.5 year ago.Things went pretty fine initially without any problem..But now after around 1.5years or so.I am realizing that kind of quality used in making Pulsar sucks..Its silencer is rusted completely…Now i have to invest around 5k…one of my friend also faced the same problem.Indicator sucks big time… and the kind of material used in making them is probably i think the worst..a small thrust is enough to break your indicator into two pieces..Gear shifting is genuine problem with all the Pulsar and Bajaj couldnt able to fix this problem yet..Probably there are many more problem with Pulsar which i will come to know later. So, in all Pulsar sucks big time in long run..Better opt for some others bike if you don’t want to waste your money on Bike after two years or so….
And recently i went to Bajaj showroom to know the cause of the problem.
They told me that i have to change the Pulsar Engine..

Hi Sandi,
I completely agree with what Sukhi had to say about the riding condition of the bike when it is new. One should strictly follow the recommended steps by the manufacturer. I too own P180 2006, black (Prev version with regular analog meter), Believe it or not, my bike gives me Unbeatable mileage of 51KMPL in city and attractive 56-57 KMPL on Highways. It is just because I strictly follow the steps provided by the manufacturer. Hence I would suggest you to have your bike service by some good mechanic, then maintain it. Please note that your bike should be serviced after every 2500Km. Please revert for any clarification.

Hi Guys,
I see a lot of comments on how good or bad pulsar is. Trust me, being an Indian, I should say, creativity is the first thing on Designer’s minds in Bajaj. Very aesthetically built 200CC pulsar or 150 or 180, I can tell you with confidence , the set the ball rolling. Having said that Hero Honda has done a good job with the eninne but the sense of being futuristic is very much missing and it’s very apparent. A Pulsar 200
futuristic and will stay for 3 year for hero honda to come anywhere closer in terms of design and creativity..way to go

hi,
I am in Bangalore.
I want to modify my Pulsar 200 Jan2008 model to look like Hayabusa Suzuki GSX1300R. With single head lamp. I dont want anything from engine till silencer to be disturbed. I just want a similar look but dont want to have adjustment in engine as i am getting a mileage of 45kmpl which is highest i ve heard of. So what are the modifications that can be done and is there any garage in Mysore or Bangalore where i can get it modified.

Hi guys.. Well i am quite impressed by some of the comments about the Pulsar.
I would like to know from you all one thing. I am planning to buy a bike mostly pulsar but could not decide whether i should go for 180 or 200.
I require a very competent bike with a decent mileage and power
Please suggest …

P200 has more features and mileage of both 180 n 200 are nearby while the prices are hardly much diff. Obsereve the rear of both the bikez.

I own a pulsar150 analog.but gear shift is like new model.I had the option of digital/analog the time i bought the bike. but i went for analog bcz pulsar tank design only matches with the old tail.and the complete design is a “FINISHED” job.And those who owns the old design with new gear shifts will say “yes we are lucky” not to have false neutrals and a good finished muscular giant(coz i say it always).
