Nothing pisses one off more than products claiming to deliver the moon. Heck, even space agencies dont make that claim!
So in comes Hero Honda Motors with a new product that it advertises as the CBZ Xtreme. Taglines like “Blink, and you will miss it!“, or “Once you see it, impossible to forget!” hyped the product up, like never before. If you had followed the Indian biking scenario, and saw this kind of advertising, you would be thinking the CBZ Xtreme to be at least a quarter-litre bike delivering 25+ bhp (One wouldnt expect litre class bikes from HH, after Honda has entered India on its own).
Ah! But that is the twist in the story. The CBZ Xtreme is a bike in the 150cc class, which is.. the same class as the original CBZ was! Shaking your head in disbelief? Dont, not yet! There’s more to it.
First, the power – reportedly a increase to….14bhp(from 12.62)! Didnt you jump with joy? No? Not even for that extreme hike in power? Well, never you mind, I have more info for you to jump with joy on.
The snaps, courtesy Xbhp. All of them showing how xtreme the product is, indeed.

Tank from the Ambition, side panels, wheels from the TVS Apache, Tail lights from the Libero probably, and a grosteque fairing + headlamp. Add in garish stickering and the dials, and you get – an Xtreme-ly bad looking bike.
No wonder they call it the Xtreme. It disappoints Xtreme-ly!
Update: Hero Honda has specs up at the CBZXtreme site. 150cc 14 bhp 143 kilos and claimed 0-60kmph time of 5 seconds. When it arrived, the original CBZ was a 158cc, 12.6 bhp, ~130 kilo machine. With the same 0-60 claimed time. Thats what Hero Honda call progress!

i just saw the new cbz a few days ago… saw it in blue, red and black – they were parked so i had a good chance to go around and observe closely. and i have to say that is one ugly piece of crap – the old cbz with it’s more outdated looks still looks better. the other thing that stood out was the size. i could be wrong but it seemed a little smaller in dimensions although the weight is more than the old one. the only good part was when i saw the bike from the back but now that i have bought a blue P180 with black mag wheels i’ll be looking at the cbz in my mirrors not from behind
that bike is just too small and ugly for me

Hai there,
There is no match for the Old CBZ. It’s not old, but always new..I think hero honda will lose the market in the near future. Nowadays, their products sucks, especially glamour, Achiever, CBZ Xtreme. About CBZ Xtreme, it should had been names as Achiever Xtreme. I expected a lot frm it, but it is a total disappointment. My friends are now searching for the original CBZ. But it’s off the market now. It’s a very very sad thing. Wat a bike it is!!!!! If it has given reasonable mileage, pulsar wouldn’t have overtaken. Let me know if we can get a new Original CBZ anywhere….(is it possible?). Even if the Original CBZ is reintroduced now with good mileage and couple of options..it will certainly conquer the market.will HH think abt it.All the bikes which copied frm CBZ have gained market.

hai Ajinkya,
buy pulsar or apache or unicorn.
All the 3 bikes gives similar mileage.
Unicorn lacks the alloy wheels and couples of accessories which others have(like parking lights)
but the engine is smooth and reliable. It’s also very comfortable when compared to the other two.
Mono suspension is really effective.I rate it as the best in the 150cc segment. But it’s still to gain market. It actually modelled after the Original CBZ. Almost similar to tht.
But pulsar is the market leader. It has become common like splender. It’s really good bike.
Apache is also similar to pulsar.not much difference except the look.
Instead of buying CBZ Xtreme, better go for Unicorn. You mite just need to make some changes like alloy wheels..or wait for the next model frm Hero Honda…

hai jack , If HH is not concerned abt the look, they wouldn’t had launched passion and Original CBZ. They had quality machines and quality looks. Then why HH is suddenly not interested in looks??? From ur statement, u accept tht Xtreme doesn’t have a good look. HH brought CBZ when people were interested only in buying splender.
U mite b a fan of HH. but i’m a great fan of Original CBZ,that’s why I cannot bear CBZ xtreme.
Appearance comes first.Only after tht we analyse other details and decide….

Is it possible in any way to contant HH Management and insist them to produce Original CBZ again? If so, please do it and also let us know abt tht.

Hi all,
Hero Honda has earned a good name so far and I hope they will lose it soon. The launch of CBZxtremes tells this. What the hell the designing team doing there. Just seeing all bike model and steal each desing from each bike and designed CBZxtreme. Herohonda show take immediate steps to resolve this. Its better to remanufacture the old CBZ. Its 100% better than CBZxtreme.
Pulsar+glamour+apache+achiever = CBZxtreme. The advertisement doesnot match for this bike. Its funny to see this bike jumping infront of train.
Dont spend much in advertisement Herohonda, Spend it in design and the sales will increase rapidly. The worst word in the dictionary is equal to CBZxtreme.
Thank You!

there’s a huge diff between each of the models – unicorn, pulsar, apache and xtreme. You really have to see what bike suits your driving style, and needs. Overall pulsar is the best all rounder.
Do not wait for the Unicorn. honda is yet to prove that it even comes close to setting the trend, for the past few years it has been Bajaj who have set the trends, so Pulsar is the bike to plump money for (as long as you feel comfy riding the bike – take as many test rides as possible).

guyz grow up……… gone r da dayz of pulsar..
it looks lik a bloddy shit on the road.. very common… every other guy is havin it.. though some people dn’t lik da looks of cbz-x but one thing is thr i.e u gettng sth different though may b a mixture…. but it’s different
n everyone knows bout the honda machines.. no comparison.. i own cbz-x n earlier i had pulsar n it’s far much better thn dat.. n if u ride it in standard condition t.e upto 45-50 it will giv u mileage of atleast 55 km/l k…
Arjun
yea, lalit… gone are the days of the pulsar! yea it looks like shit… and cbz x looks like a cbr! if you want something different, ride a cycle with pink streamers and red ribbons… cheap and different *rolls eyes*
and yea, pulsar mileage sucks… i get *only* 45 from my 180 driving with full throttle in bangalore.
PS: i will agree that every 2nd guy has it and every 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th guy too… but they are all on black pulsars after watching “fear the black ads”. buy a red or the orange one and i guarantee you will look like you’re on a different bike (as i have done – w/ black alloy wheels too
)

i agree with Srinivas. apache n pulsar owners r getting X-treme complex from CBZ’s new avatar. no questions on hero honda’s fuel economy, ride feel & quality of fitments. but what bout pulsar n apache?????? both hav a very bad chain-sprocket which leads u to the garage every week or two. u need to spend a fortune on the apache.
MY ADVICE: all u ppl, go for the apache n pulsar, n leave the CBZ for us ppl to enjoy bike riding.

Abhishek,
I quite dont know whose comment u’re referrin to, but you betray your ignorance by saying Pulsar has quality issues with the chain n sprockets.
My advice – please stop commenting on things you dont know about!

Vissu,
I’d say go for the Pulsar – its the better featured, more contemporary bike. The Xtreme isnt a bad deal, but its not as good a deal as the Pulsar – and costlier than the Pulsar 150 – which I assume is the Pulsar you are referring to.
If not buy the Pulsar 200 – the 180 is good too, but the 200 is mroe value for money.

sukhi: i didn’t know it’s going to be a 200cc bike… i always thought it’s a 220!
vissu: do you even know what the hell you are talking about?! chain sprocket?! either you are defending your stupid choice to buy the new (UGLY) cbz or you are going to be taken for a right royal ride by your mechanic! you sound like a honda/HH zealot! BTW, i waited first for apache, then for cbz xtreme to be launched (mind you that was a period of nearly a year!) before i decided on the tried and tested p180! so much for having a complex!

The Bajaj 220 Dtsfi Bike Can Be Improved by integrating its Rear Indicaters in its Mask n by substituting the spoilers by indicaters in the similar design…
N by enlarging its fuel tank compareable to its mask…cz at this time the tank look like a cat in front of a lion…
waise its cool bt improvement is needed…here…
N then we can have a complete cool bike…

I guess i’m in the wrong site. I really don’t give a shit for the new bikes that are being launched in the market. These are fancy and mileage oriented for masses of india. I still have the classic YAMAHA RX-100 & YAMAHA RD-350. My RD-350 is still the fastest bike in india producing well over 35Bhp. I’m sorry to see modern youth converting towards KMPL rather than KMPH atleast once in their life.
coming back to CBZ, it’s not a bad bike.. I’d prefer CBZ and apache to pulsar. pulsar looks like boiled potato.

I have been riding Yamaha RX100 for the past 7 years. Recently I bought CBZ Xtreme after contemplating on other 150s (Pulsar 150cc, Unicorn). Apache was not in my list because I felt it is a small bike for me, who is 6+ feet tall.
Pulsar and CBZ Xtreme were in my final list. I chose CBZ Xtreme because of the following reasons:
1. Gear was good. I used to control RX100 with gears than with breaks. CBZ was the only bike in which I can do the same. Pulsar…. sorry. Its gear is not that great.
2. Pick up. Pulsar is good too in this category.
3. Looks. I liked CBZ looks more than Pulsar even though pulsar has air-filled shock absorber and digital speedometer. I doubt the capability of Pulsar to make fault free digital bikes. I feel Bajaj doesn’t have enough experience in bike making compared to Honda, which is backing HH.
4. Tuff-up tube. I love to see CBZ Xtreme with tubless tyres like pulsar 220. I am ready to pay more for this.
I get around 45 to 50 KMPL. This is a good milege for me. I used to get 40 KMPL in my RX100.
I like to use my new CBZ Xtreme for long rides over highways and RX100 for city rides.
I still like RX100 because of superb initial pickup and better control.
I like CBZ Xtreme for its power, suspension, and comfort.
NOTE: Whatever I have written are my feelings and experience. If you have different feelings and experience, I am not against you. You choose your machine as per your taste.
I care more about performance and life of the machine than the mileage. My RX100 is 17+ years old and still enjoying head-turners attention.

hi all,
i’m a proud owner of the al new cbz extreme(the latest edition of 2009).. my bike has al new stickering n color with back red alloy n front black alloy. The bike jus rockssssss, really love to go in it… the perfomance, pickup, riding comfort, handling, looks, style etc etc…. where ever i go al ppl ll atleast take a glimse of my bike.. many have asked abt the looks….
hmm perfomace s jus amazing, i ll be the first to fly from any signal.. al other bikers ll be eatin the mud left by me.. ATFT- advanced tumble flow induction technology al means that the fire flow inside the engine ll roll through a circular chamber givin it more power n pick up.. it also produces more spark from the plug after a speed of 40.(al this info given by a well reputed HH service man). the pick with 14.4 BHP s jus rockin, its more than any bike of this range.
It gives a milage of 46. i took this bike on 26-feb-2009. it took nearly a month for HH to deliver me the bike. check out the new looks of the bike its jus superb, it goes on high demand……..
for any details mail me to http://www.vrajeshkumar@gmail.com..
tc have a happy ride…
Cheers Rajesh……..
